A person who I admire

 



Hi everybody! Today I am going to tell you about a person I admire in the field of psychology. 

This person is Karen Horney, she was a German psychologist and was one of the first women to be interested in the branch of psychoanalysis, she had an important contribution in this branch as she was an important critic of it, During her years of studies she realised how sexist the psychoanalytic current was and that many of its theories could not be put into practice because they were only stigmas on the part of men and she took it upon herself to take the principles of psychoanalysis to propose different theories and also to strongly criticise Freud, so much so that she was expelled from the school where she was studying.

I admire her a lot because one of the main reasons why I study psychology is because it is made by and for men, creating a gap of inequality when it comes to diagnoses and therapy for women. Many times it is not possible to detect mental disorders so quickly or it is done in the wrong way because gender stereotypes are still very influential in this career, in addition to the fact that the socialisation of the person is not taken into account, completely ignoring the fact that we are not a set of stereotypes. Within the career we also only read mostly men and the fact that I, as a woman, have the opportunity to get to know the work of other professionals and to see all that they have contributed helps me a lot in my training.

My Favorite Food

  Hi again! I'm going to tell you about my favorite food: the lentils. the lentils are a type of legumes, wich you can make of many diferent ways. Also there's a lot of varieties and sizes, I like all of them, but I prefer the little and brown ones, with a vegetables soup. You can make them like this, but always you can do it on your own way: Firts of all you can leave them soak all night long, but if you need them and you didn't soak them first there's no problem, they'll be tender. 1- First cut the potatoe, squash and carrot in cubes of the same size. Then cut the onion in tiny squares with the red pepper, but really thin. 2- Put the onion and pepper to fry, also add condiments like salt, "ají de color", until well cooked. 3- Once the lentils and the squash are cooked, separate some squash bits to grind them and add them mashed to the water. My Dream Job

Hello everyone again, today I'm going to talk about my dream job.  I am studying psychology because in the future I would like to work as a child and youth psychologist. It is my dream in the future to be able to provide accessible therapy for all types of patients and thus contribute to mental health not being a privilege. I would also like to specialise in eating disorders and autism spectrum disorder.  In the future I see myself with a private practice, in which I can price each session according to the type of patient and according to their needs. My aim is not to profit from people's mental health, but to help society and to be a great contribution to psychology. In a few years I would also like to study a master's degree and a doctorate in clinical psychology in order to be more qualified to give therapy.

My Favorite Piece of Tachnology

  Hi to everyone! My favorite piece of technology is the photographic camera. It's my favorite because I can capture beatiful moments and revive them with just one look. Recently I started using it again since it was broken, but I use it mostly when I go out with my friends or I see a landscape that I really like. I went out with my friends days ago and I used it for the first time in a while, I took really nice pictures. The photographic camera affects my live positively, because allows me to live again those nice moments and helps me remember such a especial things that I lived, like the people that it's no longer in my life, I can remember them happilly. Also helps me to distract myself when I don't feel really good. I absolutely recommend have a photographic camera, mine is a analog camera and is really usefull when you want to keep special moments with close people.
